Mixing up your own powdered laundry detergent is cheap and easy. The amount of detergent you can make with bulk ingredients is about 5x cheaper as commercial boxes. You can control exactly what goes in it. My favorite part, besides being inexpensive, is that I can avoid the heavy fragrance that comes with many store bought detergents.

Sep 6, 2010 - Right on sister... If you can't find the washing soda, use oxygen cleaner or PH Increaser in a pool store. Sodium carbonate is the chemical name of washing soda, its important to keep your machine and pipes clean of soap buildup. Borax is also a super cleaner. Check out my videos for more info on making soap

Jun 16, 2011 - something my sister taught me that's even cheaper: using white vinegar. that's it. she just pours white vinegar in the wash. sometimes she uses baking soda along with it, creating a nice bubbly reaction, i'm sure. i've been adding vinegar with this detergent and it seems to help. next time i'll just use vinegar and see how clean things get.

Apr 19, 2012 - Have been using this for a year now. Would not go back tostore bought laundry soap. With this reciepe my whites are whiteand using Zote Pink bar soap seems to be quite abit lessfading of colors.....This is gooooood stuff, and cheaply mahe...THANKS
